The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce Government Matters Committee and the League of Women Voters invite the public to a Candidate Forum featuring candidates for the Emporia City Commission and Emporia USD 253 School Board on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Flint Hills Technical College (FHTC), located at 3301 W. 18th Avenue, Emporia, KS. The forum will begin at 5:45 p.m. and will be moderated by Ken Weaver. This year, the candidates on the City Commission ballot include: Tyler Curtis (incumbent) Monica Duncan Tammi Ogle Aaron Larson Denise Gilligan Don Loux Kurt Steinkuhler Travis Hitt For the USD 253 School Board, the candidates are: Barbara Fowler Jami Reever Lillian Lingenfelter “Community engagement in elections is essential, and this forum gives citizens the chance to hear directly from those running for local office,” said Rebeca Herrera, Membership Director of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. During the forum, each candidate will offer opening remarks, respond to questions submitted in advance, and—time permitting—answer questions from the audience.
